This survey is divided into two parts. Part I includes general information about the survey area; descriptions of the detailed soil map units and soil series in the area; descriptions on use and interpretations of soils, and various tables. Part II includes the maps. The detailed soil map units follow the general information about the survey. Tuscarora was founded in Elko County after an expedition by trader William Heath to find gold. The community derives its name from the Tuscarora people.  As miners flocked to the town, a fort was built to offer protection from Indian raids and a County: Elko. More t soil series and , soil map units have been named and described in the United States, and more are being defined each year. When soils are mapped, soil series are further divided into phases according to properties that are important to soil use, such as texture of the surface layer and slope. We created a refined soil map for the ULVWCTA based on the most recently available () SSURGO data for the soil surveys of the Las Vegas Valley Area, Nevada, Part of Clark County, NV ; and the Clark County Area, Nevada, NV We used Landsat 7 ETM+ (path row ; acquired June 4, ) bands.
